Actor extroardanaire LESLIE JORDAN held a book singing on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2008. The event introducing Jordan’s first book, “My Trip Down the Pink Carpet,” was held at the JUST FABULOUS Book Store located on north Palm Springs, next to KAFFE CAFÉ. Jordan gave a short speech in the outdoor area behind the book store and the Cafe. Refreshements were served to the guests.
Active ImageIt was a delightful experience to listen to this man's humor. Jordan gave a quick witted account of his writing of this book. He said, “When I told my publisher that I didn’t know how to write a book, they told me, just say what ever comes to your mind.” “I was a little disappointed when they deleted a lot of the book due to some off color language.” He told the audience. “Writing a book was a great experience and I would now know how to do it again,” he said as he had learned a lot about the process. “The editors, “ he said, “even changed my southern language to a more main stream language.” He told of some of the more famous people in this book and how he had to get their permission to use the excerpts in the book. His humor was infectious as the audience laughed again and again during his recollections.

Active ImageJordan read one of the chapters he liked the most from his book. During his reading he laughed along with the audience. One of his most famous roles is BROTHER BOY in the cult film SORDID LIVES. This film has played yearly to a packed house at each showing, here locally at the Camelot Theater in Palm Springs. Jordan credits include parts in many TV productions, one of his most famous roles was on WILL & GRACE. He is also know for guest appearances on LOIS & CLARK: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, STAR TREK: VOYAGER, REBA, BOSTON PUBLIC, BOSTON LEGAL, and his memorable role on HEARTS AFIRE. Most recently, Jordan, who is openly gay, starred in the pilot episode of “LAUGH OUT”, the world's first interactive, gay-themed comedy show.

Active ImageJordan continues to be a very busy actor in great demand for his skills playing character roles. During his address he admitted that he didn’t even committed to acting school until he was 27 years old, he told the audience, “So, it is never to late to start a new career.” Jordan answered many questions from the audience. After the reading, inside the store, there was a long line of people waiting to have him autograph their newly purchased books.
