Palm Springs
Story and photos by Pat Krause
Celebrities attended screenings during the final week of the Palm Spring Film Festival. This is a sometime quite rare for the Festival. Usually only directors, producers and some foreign film actors will come for screenings of their films during the last week.
A special screening of “Midnight Cowboy” filled the Palm Canyon Theatre hosted by local artist Michael Childers. A Q&A session with Peter Bart and Childers followed the film.
A screening of “Dark and Stormy Night” brought out most of the cast for a Q&A on stage after the film. Legendary actress and comedian Betty Garrett was in this film and she is now in her 80s. She had a comedic role in this film.
Actor Tate Donovan and actress Danielle Savre were on hand for a Q&A for the film “American Primitive” at the Camelot Theatres. Some of the cast from that film were at the 20th Anniversary party at the Riviera Hotel and Spa.
Cast members from the film “Route 30” shown at the Regal Theatre came for this screening. Actress Dana Delaney, actor Kevin Rahm and other cast members held a photo shoot at the Will Call area. The director and producer also attended the screening.
The final party for the Festival was the “After Party” held at the Spa Resort Casino. The party started after the last film shown, “The Burning Plain.” Several actors, actresses, producers and directors and other Festival Officials attending the party that ends the festival.
Best of the Fest movies were shown on Monday. These are movies that won awards at the festival or were audience favorites.
Thanks to the staff and management of the Palm Springs Film Festival, Spa Resort Casino, Camelot Theatres, Regal Theatre and Palm Canyon Theatre for their assistance.
